Ilustrarium is an art gallery specialized in contemporary illustration, in which experienced artists and new talent are presented both through exhibitions in different spaces and also our online gallery in order to display art aimed at both children and adults.
The idea arose some years ago when we realized that the illustrations in children's books over recent decades were filling the aesthetic universe of children with proposals of great beauty and stylistic richness. So we decided to offer the youngest ones the possibility of enjoying works of art through their own experience going far beyond the childish images we are used to. The concept of itinerant art gallery, according to the Pop Up philosophy, promotes a new model that is characterized by the organization of traveling exhibitions and events in the most diverse and even unusual locations, with the intention of bringing art to a wider audience. At the same time, our aim is to offer contemporary art at affordable prices.
Founded in 2012 by Marta Ardite, an art historian devoted to education and research in infant visual culture for many years, Ilustrarium was founded with the aim of creating a universe dedicated to Illustration as a form of art and communication without age limits.
